Saturday May 6, 2023
3:00-5:00p EST

Explore your body using the rejuvenating techniques of self-myofascial release (SMR) in combination with active and passive forms of yoga as well as various other forms of movement that will rebalance and reenergize your body while relieving stress. Allow gravity to take hold and use the assistance of your own weight to reach deep into your body and release tension, tightness and pain. SMR is a great way to target specific body parts where pain is stored, even in inflexible bodies. Compliment your yoga practice through this unique way to move energy and release fascia.

This workshop is designed for new and experienced yogis who want to learn more about using various everyday tools to decrease muscle soreness and combat the wear and tear on the body of the modern lifestyle. Learn techniques to bring this practice into your everyday activities, empowering you to take control of your own health and comfort in life.

Included in the registration fee for this workshop is a full MFR kit (one large, one medium, two small & two extra small therapy balls as well as a scraper).

Laughing Elephant Yoga
Saturday May 6, 2023
9:00a-1:00p EST

In this workshop, visiting instructor Michelle Finch, will introduce the foundational concepts that drive the Yin yoga practice from a functional perspective. We will dive into the fundamentals of what makes Yin different from other forms of yoga and why it is a key piece to bringing balance into our lives. Additionally we'll learn about approaching the asana practice functionally, where the purpose of the pose is prioritized over simply trying to make the pose look a specific way. This approach ultimately ensures the practice is safe and effective for every body.

Both practitioners and teachers alike will benefit from learning about key anatomical concepts that bring to light everyone's unique structure and how to honor individuality in the practice of Yin. For those interested in deepening their knowledge further, this is great exposure to introductory ideas that will be expanded upon in the larger 35hr Yin Fundamentals training in September at LEY.

This class will consist of approximately 2 hours of interactive learning, 90 minutes of Yin practice and an open Q & A session at the end (there will be several brief breaks throughout the workshop)

All participants will receive a comprehensive handout covering details discussed.
